PASCO, Wash. – The Benton Franklin Fair, a longstanding champion of our region’s agricultural heritage, is excited to announce the continuation of the GALE Grant program, aimed at supporting youth in their first livestock exhibition experiences.
Funded through an endowment, the GALE (Growing Agriculture Leaders and Educators) Grant will provide $1,100 grants to up to four first-time large animal exhibitors. Eligible animals include beef, sheep, dairy cattle, goats, horses, and swine. The program is designed to remove financial barriers and inspire young participants to engage in agriculture through hands-on livestock projects.
“An important part of the Fair’s mission is to engage more young people in agriculture,” said Duane Howard, Benton Franklin Fair Board President. “This generous endowment helps break down barriers and provides opportunities for kids and their families to take part in these transformative experiences.”
Grant recipients will receive funds after completing their livestock projects at the Fair and fulfilling all program requirements. Applications are due March 13, 2025, and can be submitted online at www.bentonfranklinfair.com.
The Benton Franklin Fair has been a cornerstone of community tradition for 77 years, promoting agriculture, education, and family fun. Programs like the GALE Grant further the Fair’s mission of fostering educational growth and inspiring the next generation of agricultural leaders.
